Position Summary

The primary responsibility of Senior Manager of Market Research & Analytics is to perform detailed market research and analysis to support and develop commercial plans, track brand performance and provide commentary to senior management for all aspects of commercial launch preparation and performance.

This role reports to the Chief Commercial Officer

Primary Responsibilities

The main responsibilities of this role include, but are not limited to:

  • Develop a thorough understanding of the disease state, competitive products, and market dynamics
  • Manage all Market Research activities: plan, design, implement and manage primary and secondary research projects and provide final analysis and strategic recommendations to management
  • Manage the market research budget and relationship with vendors / partners
  • Perform detailed analysis of external demand data by channel to constantly challenge the accuracy and validate the consistency using primary and secondary data sources
  • Serve as the key interface between Market Research and Sales Operations / Sales Forecasting to identify and analyze key data sources (IMS, targeting databases, etc.), and manage integration of these data sources, internal data, and primary research
  • Analyze and systematically chronicle activities of competitors and developments in relevant markets, regulatory and public policy actions, general industry issues, and the impact on product marketing and relevant market data to Marketing, Sales, and Business Development
  • Collaborate with Forecasting & Analytics team to develop sound forecasting assumptions and patient level forecasts
  • Provide financial decision support by integrating the three P’s (patient, physician, and payer) into the forecast process; develop analysis outside of the forecast models in support of optimizing resource allocation and quantifying brand growth levers
  • Prepare financial models to inform business development-related activities
  • Provide input into clinical development to assure optimal product differentiation to maximize access and reimbursement. 
  • Create and maintain business intelligence repositories and related systems from which commercial and finance can utilize and extrapolate data

Training and Education

  • Bachelor's degree, with 5-7 years of market research and analytics experience with a minimum of 3-5 years of experience in the pharmaceutical/biotechnology industry. Specifically, market research experience within the antibiotic space and payer environment is beneficial but not mandatory

Prior Experience

  • Position requires broad market research and analytics responsibility to support the commercial team
  • Prior experience leading primary market research projects, including management of vendors, development of questionnaires and analysis of research results
  • Clear understanding of various data sources including syndicated pharmaceutical data, such as IMS NSP/NPA/DDD, Symphony/PHAST and AMR. Able to quickly identify which source to leverage to answer business questions most effectively
  • Impeccable record of integrity, fair dealing, intelligence and enthusiasm
  • Prior experience in a public company
  • PC literate including Word, PowerPoint, Access software, and advanced Excel skills
  • Working knowledge of statistical analytical techniques would be beneficial but not mandatory
